We believe the Bible is the authoritative Word of God
and contains everything we need to know for salvation and life.
We are Reformed
We believe in the SOVEREIGNTY of God over all of life and creation.
We believe in His COVENANT PROMISES to us and our children.
We believe He is directing all things in His present and towards HIS ETERNAL KINGDOM,
of which we are called to be obedient and faithful servants.
We are a member
We profess the creeds
of the worldwide church: the Apostles Creed, the Athanasian Creed and the Nicene Creed.
Our beliefs and teachings follow these three confessions: The Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism and the Canons of Dort.
We believe in the baptism of God's covenant children
Our Lord instructs those who belong to Him to be baptized with water as a sign of our internal washing away of our sins through the
precious blood of Jesus Christ and a seal of the renewing work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Baptism is a symbol of the covenant He graciously establishes with us and our children to claim us as His own.
At First CRC, baptism is administered upon request. Please contact the Pastor to schedule a date for baptism.
We celebrate the sacrament of the Lord's Supper
The Lord’s Supper, which originated with the Old Testament Passover, is a command instituted by our Lord
for believers to take part in His body and blood, the true Passover Lamb.
This sacrament helps us remember and understand the new identity of who we are and whose we are in Christ.
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper monthly, alternating between the morning and evening services.
We believe that everything we have belongs to God
Knowing that everything we own truly belongs to God, and since we can trust Him to provide for everything we need, we can then live generous lives. With offerings, our deacons lay before us the needs of our church, school, community and our world.
We believe in the covenantal Christian education of our children
In our homes, in our church and in our schools, we strive daily to nurture a Christian faith in our children that proclaims Jesus Christ as Creator, Redeemer and LORD of All.
Through church education classes and our Fair Share commitment to our local Christian schools, the entire congregation fulfills their baptismal promises to "help instruct these children in faith, and encourage and sustain them in the fellowship of believers."
We support our students in these local schools: Sioux Center Christian School, Hull Christian School, Unity Christian High School and Western Christian High School. We also have families who provide Christian home school education for their children.
